so yesterday, the school had its first Sports & Games Day
students were divided into 4 different houses
named after the four khaleefahs of Islam
i was made housemaster for one of them, Abu Bakar As-Siddiq
while i was looking forward to it
i was doubtful of the enthusiasm of the students
however, i was proved wrong on Thursday
a couple of the P6 girls approached me
'cher, we need to do anything or not for Saturday?'
they had in mind making banners, thinking up cheers, etc
their enthusiasm were infectious
so on Friday, i distributed 24 tinned drink cans to them
and told them that if they can, stay back after school
to help me and some girls prepare things for Sat
i emphasised that staying back was voluntary
almost all the P6 students stayed back anyway
most, if not all, helped in making shakers
made from sealing green beans in the metal drink cans
vanguard loudhailers and banners were also put together
after all that work, one of the boys cajoled me to treat them
i relented upon his insistent cajoling, kesian pulak aku tengokkan
so off to the corner Raimah Cafe we went, for prata and drinks
Ms Lyna got 'ketuk-ed' by her students, all 13 of them
but oh well, it was my pleasure and worth it
yesterday was an absolute blast
the sports and games played were not typical of secular schools
we are, after all, not a typical school
our students do not have typical PE lessons like other schools
so the games had to be light on their stamina
being housemaster was tiring, but i had lots of fun
i was a kid for a while, screaming and jumping each time we won
our house came out as the Best House and got to hold the trophy
i love my weekend
