been a while since my last Islamic lecture in English

i must say, i am pretty surprised by what i read as well
honestly, i had the most wonderful experience there
people have asked me before, and i dare say
i haven't faced any form of racism while there

i miss everything about it
i miss the 'hi, how are you?' i get at the check-out counter
i miss the friendly greeting from the bus drivers
i miss the smiles and friendly hellos i get at the park while jogging
i miss the cool, windy weather during my evening jogs
i miss having to don jackets and coats before going out
i miss having to wear sweaters for jogging
i miss my primetime dosage of Frasier, CSI and Australian Idol
i miss my Lebanese sweets and kebabs
i miss my Coburg flame-grilled chicken with garlic cream potato
i miss my Islamic lectures i get in English there
i miss the wide diversity i get of Muslims there
heck, i even miss the ease of renting the latest Hindi DVDs!

i think i will always, always miss Melbourne
my second home for awhile, which i left with a heavy heart

i do have a personal agenda of my own
it may take a while, ten or twenty years really
but it will be something i definitely will work towards, insya'allah

in other news, spent the day with mates
across the causeway at City Square

i thought Narnia was great
but then again, haven't read the series
so not sure how good it is as an adaptation

the shooting locations were definitely a sight to behold!!

spent the weekend attending a sec sch mate's walimah

nikah was on saturday, as well as the bride's reception
groom's reception was on sunday
there was no bertandang, but a wedding dinner instead
all the way at Radin Mass Community Centre

had a bit of a culture shock
when the groom's rombongan came on saturday
i know there are tamil speaking Muslims out there
but to hear and see a large group of them at once
kinda blew me off a bit *heh*

the newly weds walked in to a loud bhangra entourage
then there was the bhangra performance itself
followed by dinner, two games, another bhangra gig

shared a cab and reached home almost eleven last night
