the weather was chilly but too gorgeous to pass

got alerted by Matt about our group assignment results
we aced it with a HD *woohoo*
that makes my assessment grades a HD, 2 Ds and 2 Cs
wonder if i can get a D at least for the final grade
exams usually tend to pull my average down

currently waiting for isyak
brothers not around though for jemaah
due to a lecture at Huntingdale mosque

i love doing jemaah in the musollah
especially for maghrib and isyak
coz that's when the surahs will be read out loud
and i like it when the arab speaking brothers are imam
coz more often than not
it won't be surahs from juz 'amma that gets read
and i also like to hear them arab speaking brothers converse
*thinks* i guess you can conclude that i like arab speaking men?
*heh*

roti kirai again for me coz i still have lots of curry left

yesterday was a success

there was Aseel's traditional Palestinian rice
whose name literally means 'upside down' rice in Arabic

there was Siham's small pastry spinach thingy
not sure of the name, but it was tasty

there was Sadaf's yummylicious briyani
which i had for lunch as well today *heh*

there was Rawia's tabouli, Lebanese kebab and hommus dip
all deliciously homemade by her dad

there was Hatice's Turkish borek of two different versions
a small and a big one, the big with two different types of filling
my personal favourite being the one with feta cheese *yummy*
as well as lahmacun which she bought

and finally, there was my roti jala/kirai with beef curry
which took me 5 hours to cook *heh*

now i know why mom only cooks roti kirai in Ramadhan
coz it takes forever to kirai those things
but i enjoyed making them

there was so much food i tell ya
we shared with the brothers coz we couldn't finish them
and we even packed home some of them as well

jazakallah dear sisters for coming
let's make that planned trip of ours next week happen yeah?

i just found out that Kak Hawa has resumed her studies
at Uni Adelaide since February this year
and she knows Kak Norliah as well

small world eh?

to think i was trying to get in touch
with Kak Norliah yesterday, just to catch up
apparently she's gone home for the holidays
which was why i got her voice mailbox instead

the past week has been spent slacking
doesn't really help it was my off days from solat *heh*
so had lotsa free time on hand
haven't start packing as yet, trying to sell off things first
plan to get started on that
after tomorrow's food thingy with the sisters

spent the afternoon in the city, checking out some stuffs
while walking from Swanston St. to Elizabeth St.
walked past Katie's, the place where i bought
my uber cool and chic looking white jacket

went in, hoping to find something similar for the sister
they were having a reduction sale, nothing over $19.95
saw a shawl like thingy, thought of buying
a lil impractical for wet, rainy London winter weather though

then i saw another rack, with a price tag of $16.95
it had those kind of leather/pvc type of jacket
i was excited, coz that would be absolutely perfect
for wet, rainy London winter weather

there was black and brown colour
but there were only sizes 10, 12, 16 and 18 left for black
while the brown ones still had lots left

tried out the black size 10, looked good in it of course
then i guessed, the sister would prolly need a size bigger
she used my white jacket last year when she came
and the sleeves were short for her
so i took the size 12 instead, the sleeves were huge for me
which would be perfect for her, of course
however, the buttons were all gone
oh dear i thought, but never mind, can buy own buttons and sew
slipped my hand in the right pocket, and voila!
the buttons were there, just needs sewing!

then i wasn't sure of what colour to choose for her
wanted to call her right there and then to ask
but was afraid if i left even for a while
someone would take that only black size 12
checked with the salesgirl if i could come back
and return to exchange if she didn't want it
she said yes so i quickly purchased it
coz of the buttons, she rang the bill at $13.95!! lagik best!!

went to the nearest phone booth and called the sister
discussed size and colour, and the mentel in her chose black
why? because she said her friend said
many in London wear black *rolls eyes*
so yeay! i made the right choice after all

so now, i have buttons to sew
and even though she did not wish me happy birthday
i shall be a good kakak and sew it for her anyway

lecturer gave 7 pool of exam questions
exam paper has 5 questions
3 will be from the pool, word for word
if we're lucky, there'll be 4

when i saw the fourth familiar question
i wanted to jump for joy *heh*

i know i have screwed the final question
but i don't care, because i know i did well for the rest
so yes, i'm a happy, satisfied bugger
and yes, i'm on my way to graduating *woohoo*

five years
i give myself a period of five years
before deciding whether to study again or not
till then, bye-bye exams
bye-bye lectures and late nights

then again, will miss the mugging sessions
the late nights of studying and doing assignments
oh well, the grass is always greener on the other side no?

and something fun is coming up

it started out as an idea to join the Mornington Peninsula trip
but tickets got sold out, even during the first week
so we thought maybe we should do/plan something
a gathering of our own instead

and it eventually came down to potluck food feast
Monday 12pm in the prayer room *wheee*
everyone's been saying yes they'll be there so far
i sungguh loikeee and sungguh look forward to it *big grin*

i watched the news of Cruise proposing to Holmes
with a mix of envy and dismay
envy because, heck it's Cruise, saper tak envy kan?
dismay because, i was secretly wishing
he would eventually patch up with Kidman

but the setting of the proposal
brought back memories for me, on top of Eiffel Tower

back to November 2000, during my Europe study trip with TP
the trip mainly included visits to libraries and musuems
including De Lourve, which by the way, was absolutely gorgeous

places of interest were but fringe benefits thrown in
tour guide brought us to Disneyland Paris, Notre Dame
and some ground near Eiffel Tower
mainly for the purpose of photo taking

however, a bunch of us figured that
heck, being in Paris itself was a once in a lifetime event
being able to go up the Eiffel Tower was an even rarer chance
so on our last night in Paris
the night before we were to leave for Geneva
we decided to go visit the tower all by ourselves!!
there were about eight or nine of us who went
took the Metro and navigated there ourselves

it was while up there in the tower when i chanced upon
a man suddenly going down on his knees
and proposing to his girlfriend, who was properly surprised
right up there on Eiffel Tower, with the background of Paris lights
sungguh romantikkk kannn???

sister dear, when you're in London for your sep
you must, must, must find a chance to visit Paris hokay?
do whatever you must to get there
beg, borrow, but perhaps not steal lah

and miss kucingpink, the same applies to you
do whatever you must to visit the shooting sites of LOTR hokay?

yesterday i thought, hhmm... i shall have prata for breakfast
since i have leftover sardines to finish off
so i went to the corner asian grocery near my house
grabbed what i saw as the prata, plus a couple of other things

went home, kept the stuffs, had dinner
cleaned up, showered and settled down to study
but before that i took out the receipt to log in my spendings
the receipt read 'Spring Rolls: $1.50' instead of prata
i thought, hhmm, maybe they keyed it in as spring roll
since it was kept in the fridge together with the spring roll pastry

this morning i woke up happily thinking of the prata i was to have
cut open the packet, looked inside, and to my horror
realised that it WAS spring roll pastry after all!

so there i was standing there thinking what i should do next
since i already have the frying pan and oil heated up
should i forget about it or run across to the shop and get it?

i thought what the heck lah
just get dressed and go over there and buy
which was exactly what i did
got dressed, sleepiness still on my face
and went out in the freezing winter weather across to the shop
only to reach there and have a sign in my face saying
'Sorry, We Are Closed'
the shop opens only at 11am!! *slaps forehead*
since i had a consultation with my lecturer at 11am
there goes my prata brekkie

and just now, when i reached my lecturer's office
he was on the phone, and he signalled to me two
i figured he meant come back at two pm
i was a tad pissed however,
because i don't recall getting his email to come at two instead
so off i went to Coles to get some groceries
came back to the lab to check my email, and there was his email
telling me that he meant wait for a while and not go away
*slaps forehead*

can my ditzyness be a result of pms?

Melbourne's weather is sungguh spastic i tell ya

the gorgeous weather we had this morning?
well, it did not hold out long enough for my jog

it got cloudy and windy when i left for prayers
by the time i finished Asr and got into my gear
it was windy, cloudy and dark
that wasn't so bad you know
since i've jogged in weather like that before
but did it stop there?

nope
na-uh
no way

it started to drizzle when i stepped out the door!!
i thought what the heck, just get on with it
it'll usually stop soon after anyway
but of course!! it did not stop!!
started to get a tad heavier
and i wasn't exactly attired for wet weather
so i did one round, and turned back

but you know what???
once i reached home, it started to clear!!!
*urghh*

let's hope that there'll be an al-Ghamidi voice clone
for imam during Maghrib later
that would at least end my day on a not so sour note

so the flu and fever bug has left me finally

contemplating on tomorrow's IISCA class
been a month since i attended and the Sheikh was there

went last week but he didn't come, wasn't feeling well
the week before that, i didn't attend, but he came
two weeks in a row before that he couldn't make it

so that makes it like a month already
since i so called "indulge" in the Islamic side of me

that's the problem i guess with things like this
there's no guarantee, but then again
there's no guarantee except in His mercy no?

not going would mean time for revision
but then again, if i don't go and he comes
sungguh rugi lah kan?
oh well, still have time to think over it

today's another gorgeous weather for a jog
that i must go *grins*

a tad better today
even went for my usual jog
the weather was too gorgeous to pass lah
but feels crappy to be studying in this condition

so today i officially had my last last last lecture as an undergraduate!!
woohooo!! *sings* i feel good, i knew that i would *grins*

we had a presentation during today's last studio
the H groups presented their project and we were one of them
i think we did well during the presentation
and i think the semester's been good in terms of studio
no major glitches, coorperative client and group members
everyone clicked and worked well with everyone else
nice-ness i tell ya

and we presented our client, academic and tutor with gifts
a very, last minute put together thingamy, but it looks good
expensive chocs for our academic and tutor
wrapped in Star Wars wrapping paper for the Star Wars fans in them
and bottle of wine for client and bouquet of flowers for his wifey
nice-ness you know!

i feel really good lah!! finally it's all over!
there's still some work to be done though, documentations and stuffs
but, heck, we did it man! *woohoo*
