this Tasmania trip is shaping up into a pretty rugged one
hopefully the pampered me can handle it just fine

Friday, January 28, 2005

just found out from Aisyah
that Imel's gone back to Padang after all
too lonely for her without Ami i guess

i've been given the green light
but still pondering over it
should i or should i not
go to Tasmania and join them?

freaking hot!
and it's only gonna get worse tmr!
a hot humid 37deg it will be
*yipes*

the flight went well alhamdullillah
in-flight entertainment sucks though
mom's sambal goreng got confiscated by immigration
and one of the rivet screws on my luggage bag came off
she'll help me fix it, says the landlady

came home to pretty christmas decorations
which the kakak forbade the landlady to remove till after my return
and also a couple of christmas presents
which the kakak waited for my return before opening them
touching eh?

room's all cleaned and stuffs all packed away
spent yesterday settling administrative stuffs in school
yet to shop for meat, shall survive on canned food for now
Australia Day tmr(mcm dorang pey National Day ah gitu)
kakak's not working and we plan to escape the heat
by watching the movie 'Closer' at Chadstone

yet to catch up with Kadz and Imel
may drag them to grocery shop on Thursday
Aisyah's currently having the time of her life in Adelaide
macam sungguh tak biasa not having her around though

rented some DVD yesterday, only to realise that after formatting my laptop
it now can't play the darn DVDs, lack of DVD decoder or somethng
nasib baik si tuan rumah ada DVD player
playing it on the laptop is more enjoyable, but the tv will have to do for now
right now searching for them decoders to install

strangely, had an overwhelming feeling of homesickness the first night
which is ridiculous, considering how i wanted so much to be back early
habit of sleeping late doesn't really help either
oh well, will overcome it soon enough, insya'allah

some pretty nice changes in the musollah, a proper place to hang our jackets
table and chair have been removed, in place of a proper bookshelf
no doubt who is responsible for the changes
good work on her i say

dear witch, thank you for coming all the way to see me hours before i left
your biscuits tuh i cuma makan 2 pieces aje, yang lain my adeks habiskan
and your card now has a place in my collection of cards in my room
you too have left footprints in my life and heart
keep in touch hokay sweets

Wan and Hafiz, thank you for tiredlessly sending me off time and again
like my aunt said, teman setia from the start eh korang dua, hehe..
much appreciated my dear ones

gotta sccot for now
have a walking date with kakak
hopefully the weather ain't mercilessly hot right now

'eid adha without kambings does not feel right i tell ya
last i heard, kambings at En-Naeem can be slaughtered earliest on Monday
guess there's no kambing-slaugthering watch for me this 'eid

Dad came back from prayers
with news that Cik organised a get-together at her house
we were summoned to come after Friday prayers
the highlight for me was this lil babe...

she turns one next month

that handsome lil fella in the corner is Rushdie (born on Sept 11th btw!)
one of my many nephews on the paternal side
he's at that age where he is awkward with the attention people shower on him
at one point, when Khalisah got too close for his comfort, he actually cried! loL!

it was off to Bik Dah's at Simei after that
who also was doing an 'eid get-together
as well as celebrating her daughter, Amirah's, thirteeth birthday

was there quite a while, till after Maghrib
even managed to do jema'ah Maghrib with Papa and the boys
it was 'The Aviator' after that, a decision made on a whim by three of us
which eventually blossomed into a trip for five of us

the movie? well, i fell asleep for a while, fiddled with my camera
and when it ended, '**** lah dah habis?' was my reaction
*pfft*

when we were younger, we used to play together during family gatherings
unlike my maternal side, we grew apart when we got older
conversations during family gatherings were limited to just salams
i used to be pretty terkilan (is that the word?)
that i'm not close with cousins on my paternal side
now, i'm really glad that the cousin-ship with her has been rekindled

dear cousin, had a great time with you just now
we should do it more often in future hokayy?
and yes, make du'a that we both have enough rezeki
to go to London next year in June, insya'allah

the trip to JB this morning yielded 3 hindi VCDs *heh*
HulChul, Raincoat and Swades
the first wasn't too bad, not-so-stupid-comedy with nice songs
the other two will be watched before i leave of course

Breeks dinner was good
and 'My Brother' was really touching and sweet
sniffles can be heard in the theatre at the end of the movie
Wong Bin, btw, is uber charming and cute

impromptu movies can be quite pleasant

great company
great food

what more can i ask for?
fenatz!!

morning was Syabab retreat at Pesantren
pretty fruitful i must say
but like what i told Isnaen
Syabab is always good at this
sampai malam pon boleh berbincang pasal redevelopment
planning this and that
but follow-up is where it really is
and this time and again we fail at doing well in it
nevertheless, khair insya'allah
with the right niat we can do it

dzuhur and asar at En-Naeem
want to merayap but aimless four of us wasn't sure where or what to do
eventually settled on dinner at esplanade satay club and lepak
on the way there in the train, at Little India to be precise
someone had a craving for chapati
yours truly suggested gie Komalas pon gerek

them Komalas-virgin were pretty impressed with the food
vairr authentic in Mail's words

a bit of phototaking frenzy on the way to Maghrib at Maulana
and a lil more of phototaking after that to Esplanade
albeit the lousy, night-shot, 2.1pixel digital that i had
and ouh, an embarrassing (wet) fall at Merlion's *red-faced*

after that was what caused my current aching feet
on the way to the train station at City Link
someone suddenly realised he misplaced his PDA *looks at Hazrul*
a search frenzy in his laptop bag was fruitless
his fall already causing a pain in his head
he wasn't very sure where he misplaced it
so off we walked to Maulana, hoping against hope it was left there
only to find that the mosque was already closed
was resigned and almost gave up
chanced it, mayhaps he dropped it during his fall at Merlion's
alas, it was really goodbye to his PDA

so yes
it seems he was making us lose weight by all that walking

still, a fun time i had

in fact, the whole family is!
Dad's already looking forward at having to send her there! hehe!
details have yet to be finalised
but she'll prolly be there from Jan '06 to June '06
ain't that cool or what!!
this will look good for her records in gunning for that honors in future i tell ya

everything in life happens for a reason darling sister
this is prolly one of those blessings in disguise of you not getting into medicine
and oohhhhh!! Paris is a 3-hour train ride away from London!
a great chance for you sister dear!

congrats going out to her friend too in her successful application
you know who you are *winks*
they have beautiful mountains and sights in New Zealand you knoww!!

received an email from Aisyah, who's leaving for Adelaide tonight
visiting/holidaying with her friend who's there

in her bid in trying to be more independent
she applied and was granted a room at Prince George Park (PGP), NUS hostel
but it's not totally being independent mind ya
more like, erm.. semi-independent
as she will be coming back to teach tuition on tues and the weekend

Mom kept griping about her excitedness at being away from home
not able to fathom why she wants to do it so much
when the sister first brought up the idea last year
she was very reluctant in saying yes
but she can't really do anything much about it now though
especially not when it is being paid by with her Mendaki scholarship! loL!

"lepas satu, satu anak aku tinggal kan rumah..." Mom lamented
referring to me leaving soon, and now the sister as well
i reckon she better get used to it though
coz the sister has applied for overseas student exchange next year
if her application is successful, she'll be spending her 2nd year 2nd semester
either at King's College (UK), Cornell University (US) or Melbourne University

one of the electives she's chosen for one of these university
is on Judaism, Christianity and Islam, simply known as comparative religion
now THAT would be interesting to see what it's all about if she does it aye?

You Are a Visionary Soul

You are a curious person, always in a state of awareness.
Connected to all things spiritual, you are very connect to your soul.
You are wise and bright: able to reason and be reasonable.
Occasionally, you get quite depressed and have dark feelings.

You have great vision and can be very insightful.
In fact, you are often profound in a way that surprises yourself.
Visionary souls like you can be the best type of friend.
You are intuitive, understanding, sympathetic, and a good healer.

Souls you are most compatible with: Old Soul and Peacemaker Soul

was sent home by Isnaen in his company pickup
and his words from our conversation last night kept playing in my head
"stuffs in school that we learnt are only enough to make us stand
but not enough to make us walk..."

wisely said i must say

been looking around, checking out the market etc
got me really worried, coz i think i only have enough to make me crawl
to survive, gonna have to do more about it
problem is, it's gonna be hard for me to learn to like it

there's that other option, but is that really wise?
that other option however, is what she really wants me to do
but with it, was all these really worth it?
*sigh*

i've come to like that place, the people, the pace of life
but i'm fully aware its not gonna be easy trying to carve a life there
i have the chance, one which not many have
should i not take the opportunity then?
*sigh*

exactly two weeks from now
tentative plans made for final meet-ups over these two weeks
gotta get that laptop tuned up and plan what to bring

what transpired yesterday with Syabab En-naeem...

we had to pack these...

into boxes like these...

yup yup

though the retreat was a no can do for us
we had another project on our hand
clothes donation drive for the tsunami victims

a whole lotta unpacking, folding, segregating and packing clothes
driving around in Isnaen's company van looking for more boxes
and more unpacking, folding, segregating and packing clothes

amazing i tell ya what we can find in all those bags of clothes
from weird unmentionbles which sensibly is not appropriate to be donated
to a t-shirt with the face of Osama Bin Laden
there was even a 2002 or 2003 En-naem korban t-shirt, still wrapped in plastic!

by isyak, we had a little bit more to be done
decided to leave the rest till next week
before handing them over to Mercy Relief
however Hazrul beeped around 4pm with news that it had to be done by today
as Mercy Relief will be shipping them off tomorrow
couldn't join and help them coz plans were already made with the siblings

we were tired by the end of yesterday, but of course we had fun
just take a look at these peek-tures...

iman and khairil, weirdos on the loose...

these kids had deprived childhoods i tell ya...

tired but happy... thanks kiddos!!

am currently pretty excited by Kak Nishy's news
hoping against hope that i can make it
*crosses fingers*
